Hello! I’m Poi Sensei, a board-certified ophthalmologist from Japan, specializing in neuro-ophthalmology, corneal infection, uveitis, and ocular optics.

I created this platform to help young ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, and eye care professionals better understand topics that are often considered “difficult”—like visual field interpretation, neuro-ophthalmology, and strabismus.

With years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and writing, my mission is clear:

  • 🧠 Turn complexity into clarity.
  • 🎓 Bridge the gap between theory and practice.
  • ✍️ Deliver knowledge in a way that sticks.

📘 What I Do

  • Medical Education: I teach students preparing for Japan’s national medical exams and ophthalmology board certification.
  • Seminars & Lectures: I organize online seminars that attract hundreds of participants, with a focus on making complex topics digestible.
  • English Expansion: I’m now translating my educational content into English to share ophthalmology knowledge with a global audience.

💡 Why “Poi Sensei”?

“Poi Sensei” is a nickname that reflects my casual, friendly teaching style.
In Japan, I’m known for explaining hard things in a simple way—and I’m now bringing that same spirit to the international stage.

Whether you’re a trainee struggling with neuro-ophthalmology, or a practitioner looking for new ways to teach and learn, I hope this site gives you something useful—and maybe even enjoyable.
